back from brussels

I hardly had time to unpack from Oxford before heading off to Brussels. It was great to see good friends, the wedding was amazing, the weather was lovely. I haven't really organised my photos yet, but here's a random picture of me milking someone's slightly odd lawn ornament that we couldn't help but spot while taking a stroll through the neighbourhood of Woluwé.



And here's just a small sampling of the amazing food we had on the wedding day. Our friends' work colleagues (total foodies) took it on themself to do the cooking, and demonstrated how people in Belgium can't do these kinds of things by half.

It is, with a delicious carmelised drizzle! And the French guy standing behind them isn't half bad either, he's the one who made them!

so jealous - I've always wanted to try a croquembouche! Apparently it's the traditional wedding cake in France, which just makes me even more want to be French ...

Ah, yes, that was what they were calling it! And I should've remembered, because I wrote it out a bunch of times when I was making the table menus. It was num-nummy.
