the dahlia queen

This one's for my mother, who loves growing huge heaps of dahlias. She has kindness and personality to match the home-grown bouquets that she gives people, which are so big that you can only see her hands and her feet sticking out.
Happy birthday, Mom.

I'd be kinda worried if I got a bouquet with tentacles.

Birthday Dahlias
Sarah, thank you for the splendid armful of dahlias that arrived in paper form via post yesterday. Unlike the 5 - 7' tall dahlias I see outside my study window, these will last year round. What a delightful illustration. Thanks you for your birthday message and for your kind words.
Today we drive to East Wenatchee, WA, USA to check out Chuck Mosher's fine dahlia collection.Love, Mom
