Hahahaha ! I'd never heard of Twilight until the movie was realeased, and the more I read about it now, the more it makes me laugh.

The book is insanely annoying! Absolutely full of clichés, but also impossible to put down. It's also set in the area where I grew up, which makes it extra funny.

I think she must use the word 'smoldering', like, forty times.

I just finished reading through New York Magazine's collection of "Worst Films of 2008" lists, in which I liked this little gem:

Twilight. Stephanie Meyer's ponderous salute to teen abstinence and patriarchal supremacy marks the endgame for what has been a decades-long castration of the vampire genre.

Hehe. Yes, it is not a feminist text. But, [spoiler] she doesn't get eaten, either.

I've been trying to avoid twilight like a plague. It looks so tacky like Ann Rice tacky... I like my vampires like I like my puppet shows scary and sexy.
Great comic!

I think I steer clear of scary vampires and only go for funny vampires. So this sort of fits my bill, but then it really doesn't.

Hmm, I never read those! I must have a look for them sometime.

Hey, what's all this about LiveJournal in trouble? I'm not liking these rumours at all. And I tried to back up my blog and the LJ Book backup service is totally clogged with panicked LJ people doing the same thing. Worried.

I know I was halfway through a mojito and Beetlejuice when I read about it. Worrying indeed considering how much of my life and friends are on here. I'd have to get second homes in London and Philly just to keep up with talking to people.

I was just going to ask what a mojito and beetlejuice was (sounds like some sort of potentially nasty tasting new cocktail) when I realised you meant the film. Hah!

ps luv the jam comic Sarah.

Thanks, Anna! Yeah, a mojito and beetlejuice DOES sound absolutely foul.

At the bookstore every single person who has bought it is either a teenage girl or a parent buying it for their teenage girl. That's kind of scary.

It IS incredibly funny that one of the vampire's secret superpowers is Teh Sparkley Goodness (TM). No wonder they never told anyone. Edward is everything a teenage girl wants: an eternal boyfriend AND a Lisa Frank poster.

Your comic was the funniest review I've read yet!

Thanks! That book, whether you like it or hate it, it's kind of hard to ignore. ;-)

Fun Jam Comic! WHen I read the title, I thought is was going to be about Robertson Davies' books. But this was good too.
