can you give me some advice?

Hi, everyone! Sunday's Alternative Press Fair is the first of these kind of things I've ever done. And I am trying to figure out what to stock!

I will have mini comics of my letter to David Lasky (packaged in a little envelope), and a couple of my neighbour's little books:

But I will also have some prints of comics and artwork that you've seen on my blog. So I'm wondering, if you were to come along to the fair, which piece of my artwork or comics would you want to buy as a print for a fiver? I particularly want to know if you're actually going to be at the fair, but even if you're not, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Here's what I have printed up so far (a few have more than one print made):

I don't usually sell prints of my work because it's too fiddly sending them through the post for not very much money, but I thought I'd try it this time. Any feedback or ideas very welcome!

Letter to David Lasky (packaged in a little envelope) looks lovely.

Many years ago I used to make little bits of art that I'd package in those tiny brown envelopes you sometimes find. And stamp them with custom rubber stamps.

Ooh, art in those little envelopes sounds good. Are you exhibiting at the Thing this year? I keep meaning to get some rubber stamps; Will Kirkby works at a place that makes them and I must get on the case and put in some orders.

Damn, it all looks lovely and I'm not going to be there!
I'd say the Monkey Vern & Lettuce, but I can't see all of them all that clearly. The little foxes too, perhaps?

Cool, thanks for that! But sad you can't come - see you at the Thing! I don't have a stall, but I'll definitely be one of the punters milling around.

I don't tend to buy prints, as I have a few original doodles I like, and really don't have space to hang them properly.

I will be looking forward to buying some mini-comics though :)

It has my name!
Could I order a copy of "Letter to David Lasky"? The packaging looks lovely.

Everything you do is great. In the little photo here, the foxes look especially purchaseable.

Re: It has my name!
I will most certainly send you a letter, David, seeing as you feature so prominently in it!

Thanks for letting me peddle your name around everywhere on it. ;-)

Previously I've printed off pics from my portfolio at A6 size and sold them as cheap artcards for 20p. It helps to give an idea of what's popular for the next time.

I especially like the third from the left (flowery goodness) and the third from the right (street musician in checked shirt), but the little brown envelope is a great idea too. Looks like a fab event, and I am sad to be unable to attend...

I picked up "There Are Cats In This Book" from the library yesterday, and both my kids adore it -- Esme laughed like a drain at the ball-of-yarn-in-the-face page, and the artwork is generally lovely (and reminded me of Warhol's cats -- have you seen them?)

Anyway, my compliments to the chef/author-person, should you see her.

Fabulous, and thanks for the tips! Oh, DO leave a note for Viviane on her blog, she'd be so chuffed! :-D

Hi from Jo Ogden
Hi Sarah,

Thanks for the talk today. It is not easy talking to a bunch of peeps you dont know so well done and good for you!! I found it very helpful and interesting what you had to say. I am determined to be a freelance illustrator when I finish the course!! It is my aim - my goal - to get stuff published and my name known!!!! Well...I am getting married in May so watch out for 'Jo Phillips'!! LOL

I totally loved the monster stuff - fab! My stuff is COMPLETELY different to yours but it was interesting to here about "what it is like out there" in the real world. The more I hear people talk about it the more I think it is a real trial and error kind of process. I just hope I am able to dodge some of the mistakes that we get warned about (like your legal stuff!!) you also inspired me to consider writing again. I used to love writing but it just got left behind me as I went on...might revisit it! TA!! x

Re: Hi from Jo Ogden
Thanks so much, Jo! I'm glad you thought it went well. I was a bit worried people might get bored with me rabbiting on for two hours... whew!

Can't wait to see your stuff - do you have a website yet?
