left-handed scrawls

The other day, thanks to nedroidcomics, I stumbled across a website called Left-handed toons (by right-handed people). So suddenly I had to try drawing with my left hand. And then I had to write backwards, and then backwards with my left hand... endless fun to be had.

Today I am going to turn in my picture book artwork, then interview illustration legend David McKee! (Think Mr Benn, Elmer the elephant...) More news to follow soon.

Wow, that's way detailed for a left-handed drawing!

mmm... well - it sort of fails to be childlike as well - which is sort of what I was aiming for.
Mind you - that's in retrospect - now that I have kids & am reminded of how kids do draw.

I know, I am so ashamed.

My mum used to get a magazine for left-handed people that read from back to front. But it was really boring, because it was all about being left-handed, and there is only so much one can say about that.

Oh hey, I'm sorry to hear about the DFC

There is a million places that would be very happy to have you, though

I bet the Beano would be a nice home for Vern and Lettuce! Or TEE VEE!

That is amazingly well-done! Drawing left-handed was really difficult for me. I don't know how you people do it.

Very slowly! And the pen still takes occasional little breaks from the path of wisdom.

Pete Conrad put out a comic anthology of strips drawn by artists with their non-dominant hands. I drew one and it was a big mess.
He noted, in his introduction to the book, that cartoonists when they plan and draw stories to be drawn with their weak hand, tend to write about identity and about doing something that isn't their usual behavior .. in my case I did a strip about getting blasted on beer and running from the cops .. yours fits that pattern ..
