party agony

I like this morning sketch but I think I could do it better. I might try again very soon, hmm.

I've been following Party Cat by nedroidcomics. And I have been dying, DYING, I tell you. (You've probably already seen it, but if you haven't, you will be a total party pooper if you miss it.)

I've been loving Party Cat. I'd leave him a comment but he gets like 900 so I'll say it here, instead!

That's a really cute drawing, Sarah!

Thanks! And Party Cat's the best! (Yeah, I never know if comments are appreciated when the numbers get up that high, same goes for Kate Beaton's.)

Both you and Nedroid appear to be exploring the darker side of parties at the moment. I'm terrified about ever throwing a bash again!

I like the inky-ness of this sketch. Were you channeling the spirit of a giant squid when you made it?

Thanks! I could feel the ink flowing through my veins, yes.

Naw, party cat's had me in hysterics all week! I've been doing little imitations for Stuart, to the point where he doesn't think it's funny anymore.

*Blush*

I'd like to try it, getting rid of some of the black outlines and just using colour. (Not sure if it would work or not.)

Hey, thanks! Just had a look at your blog, I like how experimental you're being with it. Cool.

No harm in trying a drawing a second time to see what variations occur, but your current model is 100% charming and I love it to bits. I NEED ONE OF THOSE SQUID HATS SO DESPERATELY I CAN'T EVEN STAND IT. The weirdest had I currently have is a flamingo one. (I have a lobster I wear on my head sometimes, but he's a puppet and I don't think he counts.)

Attack of the 800 million comments is nice, but the personal touch is great too. As long as you're getting some sincere compliments, that's all that matters. More is usually a good amount though : )

Aw, thanks for that! Ha ha, a flamingo hat, do you get many chances to wear it?

Yeah, can't say no to good comments! I guess I just wonder with the people who get mobbed, if it's worth more just to post a link on my own blog. I mean, if they have 200 comments already, posting one more won't mean so much. But if I post a link on my blog, maybe someone (possibly someone not on LiveJournal) who doesn't normally see their stuff will stumble across it. With nedroid, I'd love him to get even more fans so that he will be mobbed by publishers for his book and get to choose which publisher he goes for and get paid a lot and want to do more books. That would be well cool.

Party Cat is phenomenal. I'm sad that he's done with it!

I like your squid girl sketch, the awkwardness is palpable.

Thanks! And I'm glad you did a lady cat, too! It'll be fun to see them all together... at a party. That will make them lady party cats.

lovely squid girl
I'm catching up on my lj friends' posts tonight. Like everyone else has said, this is a great image. One of your best. Sometimes polish weakens a good drawing, and I think that might be the case with this unpolished but really wonderful drawing. This is a keeper.

I'd like to read a whole book of similar rhyme drawings.

Re: lovely squid girl
Ha ha, did you know, I didn't even notice that it rhymed! How embarrassing! :-D

Thanks for that. Yeah, I know what you mean about extra polish sometimes being a bit too much. I keep thinking of Eleanor Davis's pictures, and how they're so simplified, and wishing mine looked more like that, less heavy-handed. Then again, I like a good dark line sometimes.

Wow, you ARE up late! :-D
