mcm expo costume madness!

I'll post some more tomorrow, but here are a choice few from today...

This is my favourite one, what a fabulous cheeky face.

This one of the two girls makes me laugh/weep, seeing the face of the guy behind them with the can of Stella.

Cosplayer Bingo, thanks to our table neighbour Philip Spence of Ninja Bunny

I hope it was just their dad looking a bit weary!

Cosplay Bingo is BRILLIANT. These must be mass produced :) The "too tight pants" drawing makes me laugh hysterically.

I thought cosplay bingo would be really easy at MCM ... but I guess you can make the categories really difficult.

and it kind of feels a little mean sometimes tho :(

Possibly a bit mean. :-( But some of the costumes were REALLY out there, I don't think they'd expect to walk through the Tube and not get noticed.

yeh, its kind of fun spotting cosplayers on the way. but some groups can be really loud and attention seeking. but it was kind of reasuring this time because it was confusing having the DLR down.

Yes, it was the same for me! I wasn't sure I was going the right way until I saw someone carrying a seven-foot-tall hammer.

I dunno if it's only like this in England, but when I went to the MCM Expo last year I was very much amused by the cosplayers' body language - a mixture of painful self-consciousness and a wistful desire to be noticed. :D

So true! But it was great for photography, they were always happy to pose for a shot! I should go back and just take photos next year. The Free Hugs people were still there, but looking a bit less forlorn than last year, for some reason.

What is the Free Hugs thing even about? A desperate plea for a fleeting moment of human contact, a US anime con meme that people are trying to emulate over here, or what?

Some of the costumes when I went were pretty awesome. There was a spot-on Jack Sparrow, about a million passable Narutos and Sasukes, and one less-than-intimidating 5'6" Batman.

Phillip forgot 12 Jokers. Or has that died down already?

Great photos Sarah! I must say that I haven't got a bad word to say against the cosplayers; it was fab to see so many people dressing up having great fun and showing off. The happiest, nicest crowd you could ever come across!
