good morning, sea life

Some watery doodles I did for a project that isn't quite working out so far. But I still like the picture. ...Having a difficult morning, need coffee.

The excellent Derek Kirk Kim has posted an intriguing comic here... very curious to find out what happens next.
(Thanks, _w_o_o_d_, for the tip-off.)

Great sea life! These fella's are wonderful, especially in the sub.

And that Derek Kirk Kim comic is really cool, looking forward to following what happens, thanks for your tip-off from w o o d 's tip off.

Sure thing! I was probably thinking about you and that Moby Dick comic you were going to make. (Except maybe it's not about Moby Dick now, but I'm sure it'll still be cool.) Um, I still need to read that book. I've tried four times so far.

I'm just so thrilled that DKK is making a webcomic, just like back in the days... "Same Difference" was one of the first comics I followed online.

I didn't realise he made webcomics, cool! I loved 'Same Difference', but I only ever read it as a book. I need to look into his work a lot more, it's really lovely.

"Same Difference" was first serialized online when he was making it, long before he found a publisher for it.

It was as a webcartoonist that DKK first found an audience, I think.

This new project is different because he already has a publisher, First Second.

Also, I remember he said in an interview that "Tune" was a revamp of one of his early strips that was published online, "Half Empty"... (looks like it's been pulled offline, though. it used to be on Serializer.net )

Reminds me of the old Twilight Zone episode, "People Are Alike All Over".

Bizarre -- a couple of days ago I dreamed I had a pet octopus which kept climbing out of its tank and trying to run away, even though it couldn't breathe out of the water. Obviously it needed its own tank, like this one... :)

That would be a great pattern for a shower curtain (you'd probably need to spread the characters out a little, though).

Great idea!

When should I expect my first commission cheque?

Joking apart, you could do a lot worse than sending a copy of the image to one of the UK manufacturers. There's even one in Mansfield called The Shower Curtain Manufacturing Company, which displays either total honesty or a severe lack of imagination.
