back to school

Last night I went back to Camberwell to see this year's MA students (some were part-timers on my course) and have some Christmas drinks. Paul on the course sent me a photo of the best-ever illustration tutor, Janet Woolley and me, so I did this watercolour sketch from that. Another student named Jenny very carefully decorated a gingerbread man and I didn't realise I wasn't supposed to eat it until I'd bitten the head off and seen the napkin underneath it said 'to Jan with love'. Oops.

Afterwards, I went to the AOI's exhibition at the Coningsby Gallery but none of the people I thought were going to come actually came, and it was a roomful of tight groups and I felt like a bit of a wally until the lovely Annika showed up. But that time it was a mob scene so we decided noodles in Chinatown was a better plan.

Fantastic!!! Has Jan seen this? And I wish to second the motion; she IS the best!!!
Sorry I've been in hibernation. You have been doing some of your best ever work lately, and I must go back and catch up on some commenting!

No worries, I'm taking the same stand as Lucy Knisley: Better to do some good artwork than spend too much time commenting!

Oh no...I think I'm one of those people!
Ms. Jabber, I definitely want to attend the next AOI opening you go to - please forgive me! :) I was still working at 1AM, and I'm still desperately behind. Mea culpa!
PS Your Lotus biscuits continue to beguile me. I may need to make a voyage to New Cross for some more, in the near future!

S'okay! I thought a few of the MA students were coming as well, and Jan did come, only fairly late (and then only stayed 15 minutes herself!). And I thought I'd recognise more of the AOI people, but I realised I hadn't actually been to an AOI function in ages, and a lot of them were fresh-faced out of college.

Mmm, I too have an open pack of Lotus biscuits lurking very close by...
