get your skates on

Today's morning sketch is dedicated to ellenlindner, who gave me the idea with this phrase on her blog. Although I have a feeling Ellen is not a keen skater, but I could be wrong... I found some great retro frocks on this site, A Dress a Day.

Oooh, that's a lovely sketch! What did you use to make it?

I may have to bookmark this site...

Glad you like it! Just photoshop and scanned textures, nothing too complicated.

Haha, you know, I can usually pick out what people have used but other than photoshop my brain came up blank here! I love playing around with scanned textures, I've been meaning to do so more.

I think this would be lovely worked up in to a full picture... any skating rinks or roller derbys near you? Maybe they could do with some posters/billboards!

Thanks, I might do! :-) My sister's in a roller derby league, but their stuff's generally punk meets Bettie Page, and this is more Butterick.

Ooh, I reckon everyone likes a bit of vintage!

What a sweet drawing! I am so happy to have inspired it with my extremely erratic adoption of British English.
(BTW I lost a good chunk of my morning to that Dress a Day site. DANGEROUS!)
I owe you an email...might you be tempted to lunch one day?
If nothing else we can do a Guide Routard/Ballad of Peckham Rye trade (not that I'm in a hurry to get it back)...LMK!
If not there's always Mexican...though it would be nice to catch up beforehand.
A plus!
PS I would totally wear a t-shirt of that...have you ever thought of getting a Cafe Press site?

Hey, t-shirt, that's a good idea. I'll try to make one up!

Yes, it would be great to catch up over lunch. My schedule's weirdly flexible just at the moment. I'd been waiting for an work phone call for two days, and it finally came at the only time it was absolutely most awkward, while two people were queuing (toe-tappingly) behind me for the changing room in a Blackheath charity shop and I had loads of pieces of clothing off their hangers and no trousers on. Ha ha ha... Let me know when you're free!
