my hourly comic!

And here it is! This is a record of what I did yesterday, hour by hour, as part of a global Hourly Comic Day.

Have a look at some others by lucylou, piratecore, joshpm, boxbrown, beatonna and tundraboy. (Let me know if I missed you!) The idea wasn't to create a perfectly crafted work of art, but to make quick pictorial notes while going about a regular day.

You are a genius!
That was absolutely BRILLIANT! I loved it and so many levels!

1. I can relate to spending all day at home and getting distacted - happened to me when I was studying for 2 years
2. I love the fact that it is like a little love story about your life and your life with hubby
3. the drawings are such cute and the text is brilliant
4. Did I say I loved it? :-)

fabulous, fabulous, my darling Sarah
Awesome, Sarah. Just awesome. Loved every panel, each one so utterly honest and relevant to us who work on creative endeavors out of the home. Ever so happy and honored to have made it into an hour-very cool, it was the best hour I had all day (your wine swilling hour might have been your favorite). Love you loads. You are incredibly talented and observant and just plain WONDERFUL. XO Laura

This is so great Sarah! It's neat to see another Freelancer's daily schedule. I like how you got out of the house early on and did some sketching. I need to do more of that.

Anyways, thanks for sharing and great job!

This is wonderful. I should comment more, but I always feel boring, because all I ever want to do is say, "wow! amazing! splendid!" or something along those lines. I really love your work, Sarah!

This is really delightful! So detailed and well-drawn, right to the end. My favourite panel is the last one on the 8:30pm section, haha!

My Hourly Comic
Sarah, delightful work capturing your day. I could harly wait to check your blog again after you posted your first three hours. I appreciate actually seeing -- and realize what you are hearing --from your drawing table window -- Wow, what noise! The bicycle ride over the cobbles rocks. Is the Scholastic syndication for real? I love all the detail you draw in as well as your changing moods you capture and convey. Thanks for meeting the challenge and posting your work.

Re: My Hourly Comic
Thanks! Yeah, someone from SCBWI sent me this Publisher's Weekly link. It's cool, but it makes it sound like I've been illustrating their most recent books instead of just the first five:

yes! awesomely done! awwweeeesssooooommmeee
Feb. 3rd, 2008 09:29 am (UTC)
Thanks, I love yours, too!! (But how did 'should' turn into 'pinkle'? I am still wondering about that.)
Feb. 6th, 2008 03:30 pm (UTC)
I honestly have no explanation for pinkle. at all.

Sarah's comic
Brilliant! Really loved it - the drawings, the daily distractions - great!

Feb. 3rd, 2008 12:34 pm (UTC)
I love all I've seen of your work online and this is just great Sarah - I'm full of admiration! I love how you can squeeze so much out of a day into page. My only problem is I'm hooked. Now I want to read a year in the life of a London illustrator! Maybe you could get it published by a French comic book publishers like L'Association? London's an exotic subject from here in France... I can just see you signing books at Montreuil and Angoulême...
Anyway look forward to coffee with you and Candy in a couple of weeks!
Your big fan from scbwi across the channel!

I loved it!
So glad that it's not only us writers who procrastinate all day! (And here I am, doing this instead of writing . . .)

Glad you liked it! :-D

Hey Sarah,

I don't read comics much, but I'm willing to bet there's never been one before that captures procrastination so well. (I keep meaning to look that word up. Maybe tomorrow, when I'll be near the dictionary).
Well done!

What was the project that took you to the Maritime Museum? One of my favourite places in London - especially if you go by boat from Westminster.

Re: Procrastination
Thanks, Stephen! Hope the Butterfly Tatoo's going well! I just went to the NMM because it's down the road and a lovely place to go for coffee and a sketch. But I'm sure a project will come out of it at some point, and they've been good about giving me work in the past.
