the DFC big day!

It's finally here, the DFC has arrived, how exciting!!!

I've read a few good reviews so far; this one by Kenny Penman at Forbidden Planet made me go all melty!

And another good one by the fabulous Paul Gravett, who put in the initial good word for me with David and got me going. And don't miss Lew Stringer at Blimey! and John Freeman at Down the Tubes. (Thanks to Garen Ewing for those links!)

For anyone's who's especially keen, there's a great podcast of the speeches by David Fickling, Nick Abadzis and Philip Pullman at the launch, with Alex Fitch on Resonance 104.4 FM.

Sarah... is Vern a girl or a boy? I thought a girl... but the little rabbits say "unka Vern". Are they just being cute? (I mean they are cute, but... you know what I mean).

Hi, Garen! He's definitely a boy, and Lettuce is a girl. (But I suppose sometimes it's hard to tell with animals...) ;-)

That's me being dumb... I always thought sheep were female, and rams were male - but of course they're all sheep. Females are just ewes, aren't they? So now I know Vern's a boy and Lettuce is a girl - the opposite that my stereotyping brain thought.

Congratulations by the way - your strip looked totally excellent in the pages of The DFC!

Hi Sarah

Glad you liked the review - it's been a few years since I made a girl go all "melty". I'm sure I seemed a little more negative than a few others but I really do think it's a great project (probably just the dour, scottish, socialist, state school, miscreant in me). I really do hope they give you more space, the strip is just beautifully drawn. Are you in each issue going forward? I know it will be a bit of a revolving door. Good luck going forward - tho' I doubt you need it. Talent will out in the end.

best
Kenny Penman

Aw, then you haven't lost the touch... ;-D

I can't say too much here but yes, I'll be around the DFC for awhile. And thanks for the review and the well wishing!
