Here's my morning sketch, the upset of which pales in comparison to what happened in our neighborhood last night. Just after I made the last post about the Sarah Party, Stuart and I heard a big 'whump' outside and we and the rest of the neighbourhood rushed out to look. I thought it might have been the new railway bridge falling down. This morning we woke to found our buildings police-taped off into a crime scene and I had my morning coffee on the stoop with a policeman. Turns out two of our neighbours were killed in some kind of explosion and their whole building's been evacuated. We didn't actually know those neighbours, but it's still unsettling. I went for a rather long bike ride this morning because it's a little hard concentrating on the light, funny picture book I'm supposed to be working on today while I'm conscious there are two smoking bodies still lying a hundred metres away. I didn't really want to draw that either.

Yeah, it felt kind of weird drawing that picture while this thing's going on. I'm trying to psych myself back into drawing funny stuff, but I haven't quite got there yet.

Yeah, I probably should have made them two separate posts.

Thanks, I don't really feel like I was in any more danger than usual, but I feel really bad for the people's families when they find out, and then I feel kind of bad about the morbid curiosity I have about the whole thing. I keep looking up from my work to see what the police are doing next.

I guess it's hard not to be curious. After all, It happened in your neighbourhood.

Re: How many times
Yes, I think it goes along with getting the tea and the paint water mixed up. You have a good day, too! :-)

Ouch. I remember goraina explaining (in a comic) how she had inadvertantly tattoed herself many times by dropping nib pens on her foot.

South London - so eventful! And not always in a good way.
Hope you're feeling a bit lighter today...some things really cast a horrible pall.

PS Is there crit group this weekend? And what time? I'm supposed to be at a picnic at one, but I'm sure I could turn up later...I finally have some all-ages stuff to show. LMK! Thanks.

Hi, Ellen! Oh no, I won't be able to make it this month - I'm really bummed out about that, especially if you think you're able to come. Grr. I think it starts at 2 or 2:30.

Are you coming to the degree show tonight? It'll be fun to see Jan and the gang.

Ha ha...I guess I shouldn't go either, then - the picnic is somewhere in Canonbury/De Beauvoir Town, and we'll never get there if I go to crit group. The timing for the next one isn't ideal but I'll try to make it - it's the day before we leave for the States for my bro's wedding, not great, but it would be a great motivator. Keep me posted on whether or not you think you can make it!
Strike two - I can't make it tonight, S. and I have tickets to see Guy Maddin at the NFT. And it's date night, the great inviolable. Please tell Janet I say hello, though! I will def. try and see the show before it closes.
Hope to see you soonish!
