today at the studio

Here's something I bashed up for the back cover of the Irish 24 Hour Comic Day anthology. A 24-panel comic where nothing happens but there are lots of masked bunnies.

We had a visit from bandersnatch_02 and his family in the studio, and discovered the cafe has a secret stash of bendy straws!

Gary's been getting out the paints and doing some luverly pictures:

I just have to tell you that your daily posts are wonderfully inspirational. Even though my creative medium is photography I actually have my degree in design and illustration and though my illustration has fallen by the wayside I get all happy when I see your copious output.

Hey, thanks so much, that means a lot! I love your photography, the way you play with tonal contrasts, shapes and textures... also very inspiring!

You're colours are so great. I need to get some of them liquid watercolours, do you dilute them?

Thanks, Joe! I usually use Cotman watercolours, but recently I've been dabbling a bit with Dr Martin inks. The only bad thing about them is that they're not light-fast, they fade very badly in sunlight. But they're great for print, very vivid.

Funnily enough, I was carefully trying to copy a beautiful retro colour scheme, and it came out shockingly badly. So I just walloped it in Photoshop with a change of hue and contrast and hoped for the best. I was hoping it wouldn't look too artificial.

Yeah I just read that about the light fastness. Hmm. Well all my stuff is for scanning anyhows.

Masked bunnies - I second the request for a print of this!

Bendy straws are ace, straight straws are for losers.

Thanks! Bendy straws are fab, but so are straight ones if they are very long.

It's a total cheating comic! I was hoping people wouldn't notice if I smothered it with enough bunnies. Or the same bunny.

Hi -- Thanks for posting the pics! We had such a laugh at the studio, and I will never forget changing Lucian's nappy in a disused police cell.
