next week... smile!

Hooray! Next week - Feb 2 - the fabulous Raina Telgemeier is launching her new graphic novel, SMILE!

YouTube link

I've bought and read all of Raina's adaptations of The Babysitters Club series and her work is gorgeous and her storytelling skills amazing. This one's about her experience of getting braces, and I can totally relate to all stuff that goes with that. I hope she makes a killing selling this to dentists for their waiting rooms, but it's something anyone who likes comics will love. You can see some sample pages here, and her LiveJournal name is goraina. I met her a couple years ago at the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing and she was really nice! (Photo here.)
If you're buying it in the USA and want to get it from a local comic shop, Raina writes: it should ship on Wednesday, February 3. If for some reason you can't find a copy, ask the store to order one for you! If you'd like to find your nearest local comic shop, you can always call 1-888-COMIC-BOOK , or go to http://comicshoplocator.com.
