today i met a dwarf binnacle

I'd been working since 7 this morning and it was doing my head in. So I rode my bike over to the National Maritime Museum, where all the daffodills were blooming, and did this little sketch of a 'portable liquid compass'. Which doesn't look very portable, seeing as it's about two feet high and mostly made of what looks like cast iron.

My dad designs these kinds of things, for airplanes, but I don't think the ones he works on look as cute as this one. But maybe he thinks they do. He once brought a big gyroscope to my science class when I was in school, and I was the proudest kid ever.
