Kevin dreams of biscuits with the Northamptonshire Children's Book Group

Thanks to the Northamptonshire Children's Book Group for hosting our virtual Author Visit yesterday, with several schools in the area! My co-author Philip Reeve and I did a reading from our book, Kevin vs the Unicorns, talked a bit about the inspiration behind Kevin and this particular story, then everyone drew a picture of themself riding Kevin. There were some great results!

Thanks so much to Joy Court for moderating and fielding questions, and to Louise Stothard, Tricia Adams, Ellie Rutherford, Emma and Stacey for your support! And of course, all the schools for taking part: Helmdon Primary School, Chacombe CEVA Primary School, St Loys CEVA Primary Academy, and Mawsley Community Primary School. If anyone would like more book-related activities, be sure to check out my website, jabberworks.co.uk.

You can follow the NCBG on Twitter - @NorthantsCBG - and on Facebook here.

Thanks also to the local bookshops who helped provide books to the children (and they'll still be offering books if any children missed out): The Old Hall Bookshop in Brackley (tel: 01280 704146) and Quinn's Bookshop in Market Harborough

Lovely message from teacher Natalie Coates:

Thank you again – my children thoroughly enjoyed the zoom earlier and were so inspired – I’m not sure I will be able to teach any other texts this term as they want to read all of the Kevin books. Our other class, year 5 and 6, were equally enthralled.

I’ve attached some examples of their illustrations.
